Sambalpur: Two persons have been arrested for impersonating as police and extorting money from locals.
The two impersonators are Prasanta Mirdha and Kante Srinivas.
Acting on a complaint filed by an extortion victim, Hirakud police swung into action and arrested the two.
The victim stated in his complaint that Mirdha and Srinivas identified themselves as police officers and extorted Rs 5,000 from him through phone banking to carry out a job.
Police uniform, IIC badge, mobile phones and other items were seized from the duo. They have been remanded to judicial custody, stated reports.
