Two Men Dies Of Asphyxiation In Septic Tank In Odisha’s Sambalpur, 2 Others Critical



Sambalpur: Two persons died and as many were critical after allegedly suffocating inside a newly-constructed septic tank in Odisha’s Sambalpur district on Tuesday.

The tragic incident occurred at Kesaibahal village under Mahulpalli police limits. The deceased have been identified as Sushil Nayak and Bhikari Char

an Bal of the same village. 


According to sources, two workers entered the freshly built septic tank to remove the centering structure. When they did not respond to calls from outside, the owner and another worker went in to check on them, only to suffocate to the same hazardous conditions. Nearby workers quickly raised an alarm and summoned help.

Teams from the fire services and an ambulance rushed to the spot. Fire personnel entered the tank wearing appropriate gear and successfully retrieved the unconscious men. All four were immediately rushed to the Sub-divisional Hospital at Kuchinda. However, the owner and one worker were declared dead on arrival. The remaining two are under critical care.
