Bhubaneswar: Two men who allegedly posed as policemen and robbed people at night in Odisha’s capital have been arrested by the Commissionerate Police.
A few days ago, the accused, Gyana Ranjan Mohanty (62) and Kanhu Charan Sahu (58), posing as the Commissionerate Police’s Special Squad officers, “collected Rs 8,000 from a youth in Lingaraj police station area for loitering late night”.
A police complaint by the youth led to an investigation and their arrest.
Mohanty retired as an ASI from the Commissionerate Police two years back, police said, adding that the accused used to “target people at late hours and collect penalty”.
