Two Minor Cousins Drown In Salunki River In Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: In a tragic incident, two minor boy and his cousin drowned in Salunki river in Kandhamal district on Sunday.

According to sources, 5-year-old Satyajit and his 4-year-old cousin sister had gone to take bath in the river in the afternoon. While bathing, they were reportedly dragged into deep water by a strong current and started drowning.

Some locals spotted the minor cousins drowning and jumped into the river to rescue them. By the time they brought the two minors to the river bank, they had lost consciousness. The two children were rushed to Tikabali Community Health Centre (CHC) where they were declared brought dead.

The children were identified as Satyajit, the son of Yudhistor Dehuri and Hyoti, the daughter of Prashant Dehuri of Chhatijhar village under Tikabali police limits. Police have registered a case of unnatural death and launched investigation.
