Jajpur: In a tragic incident, two minor girls drowned while taking bath in a pond at Kurkura village under Kuakhia police limits in Jajpur district on Sunday.
Locals rescued the minor girls from the pond, and took them to the Jajpur DHH. But doctors declared them dead there.
The deceased have been identified as Roshani (5), daughter of Bipin Swain, and Sangeeta (6), daughter of Hrusikesh. Both belong to Kurkura village.
The incident took place when the two girls were taking bath in a pond near an Anganwadi centre.
On October 20, three minor girls drowned to death in separate incidents at Khurda and Kalahandi districts.
The deceased have been identified as Rosy Sahu (17), Namita Sahu (12) and Rupali Samantaray (10).
Rosy and Namita died while taking bath in a pond at Bagada village under Kesinga police limits in Kalahandi district.
On being informed, police reached the spot and recovered the bodies and sent them for postmortem.
The two girls died while they trying to save their brother from drowning.
Meanwhile, Rupali fell into a well and died in Godipada in Khurda district.
