Nayagarh: Two instances of rape, involving minor girls, were reported from Nayagarh and Bhadrak districts in Odisha on Wednesday night.
According to sources, a minor girl was allegedly raped in a village under Fatehgarh Police limits in Nayagarh district. The incident took place, when the girl was on her way back home. A youth offered her lift. However, he instead took her to an isolated place and raped her, sources said.
The villagers rescued the girl in a critical condition and also nabbed the accused youth, whom they thrashed before handing over to police.
In Bhadrak, a minor girl was admitted to the district headquarters hospital after allegedly raped by a youth.
After committing the heinous crime, the accused also attempted to murder her. She was rescued in critical condition and rushed to the hospital.
The family members of the survivor lodged a complaint in police station, following which police have detained one person in this connection.
