Sambalpur: Government Railway Police (GRP) rescued two minor girls and three women from a train while they were allegedly being trafficked from Odisha to Mumbai.
A couple hailing from Dhenkanal have been detained in this connection.
Acting on a tip-off, the GRP personnel searched Puri-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express at Sambalpur railway station and rescued the victims from the first bogie of the train.
“The children and women from Angul district were being taken to Mumbai on the promise of providing them jobs. We are trying to establish contact with their family members,” a police officer informed.
