Nayagarh: Two minor siblings drowned to death in a pond at a village in Odisha’s Nayagarh district on Wednesday.
The two boys had gone to a pond at Sathiapalli village under the jurisdiction of Nayagarh police station when the accident took place. The children slipped deep into the water and were unable to come out, reports said.
The deceased children were identified as Chandrashekhar and his younger brother Rudramadhav. While Chandrashekhar was a student of Class III, Rudramadhav was going to the anganwadi centre in the village, they said.
On hearing their screams, villagers rushed to the site, jumped into the water body and pulled the children out.
Both were immediately taken to the district headquarters hospital in Nayagarh where doctors declared them dead, they said.
