Jajpur: Two minor sisters were killed as a tractor towing a harvester machine overturned in Odisha’s Jajpur district on Saturday.
According to sources, the incident took place at Jodabara under Jajpur Road police station in the district in morning. The tractor was towing a paddy harvester machine and the two sisters were sitting on it.
The sisters were identified as 14-year-old Dulari Hansda and 11-year-old Rani Hansda, daughters of Raju Hansda of Majhisahi in Jodabara.
On the way, the tractor driver lost control and the vehicle along with the harvester machine overturned. Both the vehicle and harvester fell into a roadside canal and the two sisters got pressed under it.
While the two minor girls died on the spot, the tractor driver was critically injured. On being informed, police went to the accident spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They also rushed the driver to the local hospital.
