Dhenkanal: Two minor sisters were reportedly killed while their mother escaped in a road accident in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Saturday.
According to sources, the woman belonging to Gandanali village in Hindol sub-division of the district was going on a Scooty for shopping to Telibhuin in the afternoon.
As they were crossing a petrol pump in Sukiabauti under Rasola police limits, a speeding truck hit the Scooty from behind. All three of them were thrown off the vehicle and came down crashing on the road.
The two minor sisters died on the spot while the woman sustained serious injuries. The locals rushed them to the local hospital. The hospital sources said the woman’s condition was critical.
On being informed, a team from Rasola police station went to the spot and started investigation. They have also started a search operation to trace the truck driver who fled after the accident.
