Cuttack: Two youths went missing after being swept away while taking bath in the Kuakhai river near Pratapnagari in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Wednesday.
The incident took place when five friends were taking bath near a bridge over the river close to Pratapnagari and three of them slipped into deep water due to strong current, sources said.
As the three were swept away by the strong river current, some local residents and divers jumped into the water and rescued one of the youths, they said, adding that the other two were yet to be traced.
On getting information, a police team from Cuttack Sadar and fire services personnel rushed to the site and launched a search and rescue operation.
While the rescue operation was in progress, the identities of the missing youths were yet to be ascertained.
