Paralakhemundi: The Gajapati administration on Saturday sealed two cinema halls in Paralakhemundi town for gross violation of COVID-19 guidelines.
The administration, in a notification, said that the two cinema halls—Jaya Mahal and Laxmi Talkies — have been sealed until further orders.
Notably, there was a heavy rush of people in front of these two cinema halls on Friday afternoon to watch a Telugu movie.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and asked the movie-goers to maintain social distancing at the ticket counters. As people continued to flout the norms, police resorted to lathi-charge to disperse them.
A showcause notice was later issued to the cinema hall owners and they were asked them to stop the screening of the movie.
Earlier on Friday, Ashoka Cinema hall in Rayagada town was sealed on the same grounds.
