Bhubaneswar: To make roads in state capital safe for pedestrians, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has issued the work order for construction of two more foot over-bridges (FOBs) on NH-16.
The two new bridges will come up at Palasuni and near Rajdhani College at Baramunda, two of the most accident-prone areas on the national highway.
Taking to her X handle, Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi said that these bridges will come up at a cost Rs 5 crore. “It was People’s Demand. I had been pursuing the matter,” she wrote and expressed her gratitude to NHAI and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Two such bridges have already been grounded — one near Kalinga Stadium by the side of NH-16 and another near Satsang Vihar.
The NHAI also notified two more FOBs at Manguli on Chandikhole-Jagatpur-Bhubaneswar Section of NH-16.
