Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday said that Odisha will receive more rainfall as back-to-back low pressures are most likely to form by October 21.

According to senior meteorologist Surendranath Pasupalak, a cyclonic circulation most likely to form over the central Bay of Bengal off the Myanmar coast on October 12 will turn into a low pressure on October 13. The low pressure will concentrate into a depression on October 15, then into a deep depression on October 16 and move in the north-west. The landfall of the deep depression is most likely to take place between the north Andhra Pradesh and south Odisha by October 18.

According to Pasupalak, another low-pressure area is most likely to form off the Myanmar coast by October 21. Also, under the influence of the two low pressures, heavy rainfall will lash coastal Odisha from October 17 to 19 and from October 23 to 25.
