Bhubaneswar: The number of micro-containment zones continues to increase with an unabated rise in COVID-19 and Omicron cases in the capital city.
Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation on Saturday declared two more Micro Containment zones in South West Zone of BMC. The total number of micro-containment zones have increased to 53 in the city in the last few days amid a spike in COVID cases.
The two new additions are: Plot No. 1085/3670, Lane 10, Satabdhi Nagar, Ward 51
Quarter No 2R2, Stewart School Campus, Unit-8, Ward-48
Earlier in the day a part of XIMB was declared a micro-containment zone after more than 30 students tested positive for COVID-19.
Odisha witnessed the biggest single-day spike with 3,679 new cases in the last 24 hours with Khurda reporting the highest of 1233 cases followed by Sundargarh (582), Sambalpur (372) and Cuttack (310).
