Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to take a decision on adding two teams in next year’s IPL at its Annual General Meeting on December 24.

According to media reports, the Adani Group and Sanjeev Goenka’s RPG Group have expressed keen interest to own new teams for the world’s popular T20 league. The RPG group, it may be recalled, owned Rising Pune Supergiants which participated in the 2016 and 2017 IPL when Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were banned for match-fixing scandal.

Introducing new teams in IPL is the most important among the 23-point agenda of the AGM. India’s Future Tours Programme for 2021, organisation of next year’s T20 World Cup and inclusion of cricket in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will also be discussed.

BCCI’s representatives to the International Cricket Council and Asian Cricket Council meetings will be decided. Appointment of three new selectors, along with a chairman of the committee, is also on cards.
