Bhubaneswar: The mortal remains of the two CRPF jawans of Odisha who were martyred in a terror attack at Awantipora in Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday evening, will be consigned to flames with full state honour at their respective villages on Saturday.
According to reports, the bodies of the two jawans— Prasanna Sahu of Parisikhar village under Naugan block in Jagatsinghpur district and Manoj Kumar Behera of Ratanpur village of Niali block in Cuttack district —will arrive at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the coffin here at 9.45 AM in a special Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.
The coffins would be brought out of the helicopter and placed on the podium of a temporary tent where the CRPF IG Bhitul Kumar, DIG SK Tikka and two DIGs of the CRPF with a team of jawans will offer floral tribute and give them the guard of honour. Later, the mortal remains of the two jawans will be taken to their respective villages in a CRPF van where they will be cremated with full state honour.
As per the directive of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has asked his cabinet colleagues to attend the cremation of the martyred jawans, Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram and Union Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan will attend the cremation of Manoj Kumar Behera and Prasanna Sahu respectively.
