Bhubaneswar: Two Odia tourists were killed in a road accident in Nepal in the wee hours of Tuesday. Five more Odia travelers were among 21 others who were injured in the mishap.
The deceased were identified as Charan Biswal of Malipada village and Bijay Jena of Jamuna village in Khurda district’s Jatani police station area.
According to reports, about 60 Odia tourists from Khurda district and Delanga in Puri district had gone to Nepal on June 6. During their tour, a speeding truck hit their bus from behind near Chandrapur in Rautahat district.
The incident took place at around 1 am when the ill-fated bus was on way to Jayanagar from Kathmandu.
Following the incident, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured, including two in a critical condition, to a hospital at Chandrapur.
The Odia tourists, who sustained minor injuries, were later kept at Odisha Ashram at Chandrapur after their discharge from the hospital.
