Bhubaneswar: To form a society, children writers play a vital role. Creativity is very important for the personality development and mental growth of children, said noted poet Ramakanta Rath on the occasion of ‘Bal Sahitya Puraskar-2020’ Utsav, organised by Kendra Sahitya Akademi on Children’s Day.
For the year 2020, a total of 19 writers including two Odias received the Bal Sahitya Puraskar. The Odia writers are Ramachandra Nayak and Jairam Tudu.
Other recipients are, Madhurima Gharphalia (Assami), Ajit Boro (Bodo), Siba Debasingh Sushil (Dogri), Venita Koel (English), Natwar Lal Giridhardas Patel (Gujarati), Hs Byakod (Kannada), Sayd Akhtar Hussein (Kashmiri), V Krishna Udyar (Konkani), Siyaram Jha (Maithili), Naorem Bidyasagr Singh (Manipuri), Aba Gobinda Mahajan (Marathi), Dhurba Chouhan (Nepali), Mangat Badal (Rajasthani), Arvind Kumar Tiwari (Sanskrit), S Balabharathi (Tamil), Kanneganti Anasuya (Telugu) and Hafiz Karnataki (Urdu).
Attending as chief guest at the programme, Rath said, “If children will read good books, there will be a positive impact on them and the society also.”
All the recipients will give a talk on literature at Gita Govinda Sadann on Monday afternoon, informed Kendra Sahitya Akademi Odia Advisory Board convener Bijayananda Singh.
