Bhubaneswar: Birendra Lakra and Amit Rohidas, the two defenders from Odisha, have found a place in Indian Men’s hockey team for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics 2020.
Hockey India announced the 16-member squad on Friday.
The squad also includes PR Sreejesh, Manpreet Singh, Harmanpreet Singh, Rupinder Pal Singh, Surendra Kumar, Mandeep Singh, Hardik Singh, Vivek Sagar Prasad, Nilakanta Sharma, Sumit, Shamsher Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Gurjant Singh and Lalit Kumar Upadhyay.
Notably, Lakra had missed the Olympics in 2016 due to a major knee injury.
Deep Grace Ekka is the only woman player from Odisha to have been selected in the Indian Women’s hockey team for the mega competition.
A dependable defender, Grace was also a member of the Indian squad which participated in the 2016 Rio Olympics.
