Bhubaneswar: Two Plus III 1st year students of Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology (OUAT) were allegedly ragged and beaten up by some seniors on the campus.
The victims have lodged complaints in this regard at Siripur police station.
One of the students, identified as Satya Swaroop Nayak, had left the hostel two months ago after allegedly being ragged by the senior students. When he came to attend class on Tuesday morning, he was allegedly thrashed by the senior students for not staying at the hostel, sources said.
Satya ran to the nearest Siripur police station and narrated his ordeal to the police personnel. Following which, the cops alerted Satya’s uncle Jajati, Rout, who then lodged a formal complaint.
Another student had also ragged on the campus and he later complained about the same, the sources added.
On the basis of the complaint, police reached the spot and launched a probe into the incident.
The varsity authorities are yet to comment on the issue.
