Bhubaneswar: Two passengers coming from Mumbai have tested positive for COVID-19 during screening at the Biju Patnaik International Airport here.
Additional commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Subhendu Sahoo said with the COVID-19 positive cases rising alarmingly in some states, the BMC started screening of the passengers on their arrival at the airport from Wednesday.
Of the two passengers, who tested positive for the disease, one has been admitted to the Sum Covid Hospital and the other is under home isolation. The reports of other passengers are awaited, Sahoo said.
BMC Commissioner Premchandra Choudhury said though the test is not mandatory, the passengers coming from the states, where the COVID-19 cases have been reported to be rising, will undergo screening.
He further said in order to prevent the spread of the disease, the BMC will start screening of the passengers arriving at Bhubaneswar railway station soon.
