Two PEOs Suspended For PMAY Irregularities In Odisha’s Jajpur

Jajpur: The jajpur administration has suspended two panchayat executive officers (PEOs) for alleged irregularities in Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana(PMAY).

The suspended officers are Prashant Kumar Jena posted at Majhipada panchayat under Barchana block, and Krushna Chandra Mahala posted at Kaina Ranghunathpur panchayat under Binjharpur block.

According to sources, Jena had allegedly misappropriated funds allocated for some PMAY housing units. Following allegations, the block administration conducted a probe and submitted a report to the district administration, pointing  to the PEO’s complicity in the alleged embezzlement of funds.

In 2019-20 and 2020-2021 fiscal, funds of some PMAY beneficiaries in Kaina Ranghunathpur panchayat under Binjharpur block were also misappropriated. The beneficiaries concerned had taken up the issue with Collector Chakravarti Singh Rathore, who had asked the block administration to look into it. The PEO was suspended after the Binjharpur block administration found involvement in the scam, the sources added.
