Two Persons Thrashed On Suspicion Of Child Theft In Rayagada, Detained By Police

Rayagada: Two persons were beaten up black and blue on suspicion of child theft in Rayagada district on Monday.

The accused were later handed over to police.

There have been rumours regarding presence of child lifters in different parts of the district on social media that fuelled the suspicion.

According to information, some locals noticed two persons roaming near Jemadeipentha and Raniguda farm areas following which they caught hold of them. When asked about their purpose of visit, the duo failed to give any satisfying answer. Irked over this, the locals thrashed them severely before handing them over to police.

“The detainees hail from Uttar Pradesh. An investigation into the case is ongoing to establish the truth behind the allegations against the two. However, this is not the first incident, two similar cases were also reported from other parts of the district and inquiry into the same is underway,” informed Rayagada SDPO Rajkishore Das informed.
