Bhadrak: Two pilgrims died and 20 others were injured, five of them seriously, when a tourist bus hit a stationary truck near Barikapur on NH-16 in Odisha’s Bhadrak district late on Tuesday night.
According to sources, a tourist bus carrying 58 persons from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh was on a pilgrimage tour to Char Dham on February 9.
After visiting Ayodhya, the pilgrims were on the way to Puri when the driver lost control over the vehicle and hit the stationary truck.
The incident took place around 2 am.
On being informed, police rushed to the spot and admitted the injured to the district headquarters hospital from where five critically injured were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
The deceased have been identified as Divya Master and Tilak Nishad. Police have informed the family members of the deceased and injured passengers.
