Rayagada: Two first-year Plus II students riding a motorcycle died following a head-on collision with a bus in Odisha’s Rayagada district on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Vishnu Sabar of Tembaguda village under Gudari and Debendra Sabar of Saura Sahi in Gudari.
According to sources,
the accident took place near Kandajam under Ramanaguda police limits when the duo was heading to their school, Adivasi Kalyan Parishad Higher Secondary School at Badisala, from Gudari to appear for an exam. The impact was so severe that both students suffered critical injuries. Local residents rushed them to the nearby Ramanaguda Community Health Centre, but doctors declared them dead on arrival.
Following the accident, tension gripped the region as angry residents blocked the road, demanding stern action against the car driver and proper compensation for the bereaved families.
Meanwhile, Ramanaguda police have registered a case and started an investigation to ascertain the circumstances, leading to collision.
