Bhubaneswar: Khandagiri police on Saturday arrested two youths, who allegedly looted people by using sedatives, from Baramunda in Odisha capital.
The arrested have been identified as Susanta Rout (32) of Bhagabat Prasad village in Nayagarh district and Simanchal Subudhi (33) of Changuliapadar village in Ganjam district.
Cash worth Rs 1.08 lakh, foreign currencies, gold jewellery, stolen items, a motorcycle and four mobile phones were seized from their possession.
“The duo targeted people travelling on trains and buses. They would befriend with the passengers, offer them food laced with sedatives and later loot them,” said a senior police officer.
Further investigation is underway.
