Two Sisters Consume Poison In Odisha’s Boudh, One Dead

Bhubaneswar: A woman died while her younger sister is battling for life after an alleged suicide attempt by consuming poison at Mahalikapada village under Harabhanga police limits in Boudh district, on Thursday night.

The deceased has been identified as Nalini Sahu. Her sister Shalini Sahu is undergoing treatment at the district headquarters hospital (DHH).

According to sources, Mantu Sahu lived with his wife Nalini and their two-year-old son at Mahalikapada. His sister-in-law, Shalini, was visiting them. A fight broke put between the two sisters over a family dispute and soon escalated with the duo allegedly consuming poison as a desperate measure. They were rushed to a nearby hospital and then shifted to DHH, where Nalini was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, Harbhanga police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to this tragic event.
