Rourkela: Two minor girls died while their mother sustained critical injuries after a wall of their house collapsed on them at Malgodown area under Uditnagar police limits in Sundargarh district late on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Sujata (7) and Soumnya (5).
According to available information, the trio was asleep when a portion of the mud wall of their house suddenly collapsed and fell on them.
While the woman managed to wriggle out of the rubbles, her daughters got trapped under it. Hearing the woman’s screams, a few neighbours rushed the spot and found that the two girls had died.
The woman was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The wall collapsed due to incessant rainfall for the last few days, locals said.
