Puri: Two sisters of a family reportedly drowned in a village pond in Odisha’s Puri district on Thursday.
As per reports, the two sisters, identified as Rekha Baral and Subhasri Baral of Dabhar village under Gop police station in the district had gone to take bath in the pond around noon. While bathing, both of them apparently slipped into deep water and drowned.
As Rekha and Subhasri did not return for a long time, their family members started searching for them. After a long search, the villagers found the two sisters floating in the pond.
They brought the two sisters, who were unconscious, from the water and rushed them to community health centre (CHC) at Gop. But the doctors declared them brought dead.
On being informed, police went to the CHC and sent the bodies for post-mortem. They have registered a case of unnatural death and started investigation.
