Balasore: Two sisters drowned while bathing in a pond at Kharasahapur village under Soro police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Wednesday.
According to sources, the two sisters, Rajalakshmi and Bhagyalakshmi, daughters of Manas Behera slipped into the pond while bathing and drowned.
As the siblings did not return home, the family members launched a search and spotted their belongings near the village.
After a long search their bodies were retrieved from the water body, sources added.
Soro police arrived at the spot and conducted a preliminary inquiry.
Bodies of the girls were sent to autopsy and a case of unnatural death has been registered in this connection, the police said.
