Puri: Two college students were critically injured as a speeding car hit them near Pipili in the district on Thursday evening.
According to sources, while four persons including three students were standing on the road side in front of the CIFA office in Pipili, the car moving at a high speed collided with another car and then hit them.
Two of them, who were critically injured, have been rushed to the Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar while two others sustained minor injuries.
Three injured persons have been identified as Satyam Das, Kahnei Mallik and Sonamaya Behera.
Following the incident, the locals staged a road blockade on Puri-Bhubaneswar road by burning tyres. The blockade led the vehicles stranded on both sides of the incident spot in long queues.
The irate locals demanded arrest of the car driver who has been absconding. On being informed, police have rushed to the spot to restore law and order and resume movement of vehicles.
Nobody has been arrested in this connection while police were deployed at the spot till the report was filed.
