Bhubaneswar: Utkal University authorities on Saturday formed two committees to probe into the massive fire in the Syndicate Hall two days ago.
“While one team will probe into the cause of the fire, the other team will probe into the damage of properties and fire safety measures,” PG Council chairperson Sabita Acharya said.
Acharya admitted that the fire has damaged properties and assets, but added official documents kept in the Syndicate Hall were safe.
On Thursday evening, some students had noticed thick smoke billowing out of the Syndicate Hall and immediately alerted the university authorities.
Later, three fire tenders doused the flames within an hour.
Incidentally, university officials had a meeting in the same hall barely an hour ago before the fire broke out.
