Heavy rain since Wednesday has badly affected train services under East Coast Railway (ECOR) jurisdiction.
The Bhubaneswar-Visakhapatnam Intercity express will be terminated at Srikakulam and will run empty up to Visakhapatnam. The same train leaving for Bhubaneswar will remain cancelled on Thursday.
While Visakhapatnam-Bramhapur passenger train has been cancelled due to heavy congestion between Palasa and Vizianagaram route, Bramhapur-Visakhapatnam passenger has been short terminated at Chipurupalle Railway Station in Andhra Pradesh. The train has been cancelled on October 25.
Bhubaneswar-Bramhapur-Bhubaneswar MEMU train has also been cancelled due to heavy rain and water logging on tracks.
Many express and passenger trains are running behind schedule due to waterlogging at various stations between Palasa and Vizianagaram.
At Vizianagaram, water from city municipal drains and nearby areas entered the station yards and tracks got submerged for some time. Signalling posts also got affected at many stations due to heavy water flow all night long, a ECoR press release said.
