Bhawanipatna: Two persons were trampled to death by an elephant at Keralo
vlllage in Kalahandi district late on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Taka Majhi and Bihari Majhi.
According to locals, the duo had gone to a nearby forest area to answer
nature’s call when the wild animal chased and attacked them.
A few villagers came out of their houses on hearing their screams
following which the elephant fled.
In a similar incident on Monday night, a herd of 90 elephants from the contiguous forests in Jharkhand strayed into the human habitations at Nilagiri in Balasore district and destroyed several acres of harvested paddy crops in the locality.
