Two Women Allegedly Abducted, Gang-Raped at Gunpoint By 13 Men in Bihar; SIT Formed



Patna: Two women were allegedly abducted and gang-raped at gunpoint by a group of 13 men in Bihar, prompting authorities to launch a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe into the incident. The alleged assault has triggered outrage and renewed concerns over women’s safety in the state.

According to police, the women were reportedly forcibly taken by the accused and subjected to sexual assault. Based on the survivors’ statements, a case has been registered and an investigation has been initiated to identify and apprehend all those involved, as per HT. The incident is reported to have taken place in a rural area, where the victims were allegedly threatened with fire


arms during the assault.

Senior police officials said an SIT has been constituted to ensure a thorough and time-bound investigation. The team has begun collecting evidence, recording witness statements and conducting raids to trace the accused. Authorities have assured strict action against those found guilty.

“Police received information that two women were allegedly gang-raped in Naubatpur area. A zero FIR was registered the same day against 13 accused and later transferred to Naubatpur police station on Friday for further investigation,” said Phulwari Sharif SDPO-2 (sub-divisional police officer) Deepak Kumar, reported HT.

The case has drawn sharp reactions from political leaders and rights activists, who have demanded swift arrests and justice for the survivors. The incident has once again put the spotlight on the issue of crimes against women in Bihar and the effectiveness of law enforcement mechanisms in preventing such offences.

The victims are originally from Jharkhand’s Latehar district. They are cousins and were residing in a rented house in Patna’s Mithapur area.

Police said further details would be shared as the investigation progresses, while officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring the survivors receive necessary support and protection during the legal process.
