Pipili: Police on Tuesday arrested two women for allegedly killing their mother-in-law at Bastapada village under Satyabadi tehsil in Puri district.
The accused have been identified as Sandhya Maharana and Manasi Maharana.
Following the arrest, both of them confessed to their crime during interrogation.
According to sources, the duo used to quarrel with their mother-in-law Savitri Maharana, a widow, over trivial issues on several occasions. On July 30, the two strangulated Savitri in absence of their husbands. They later dumped the body in a pond backside of their house and lodged a missing complaint at Satyabadi police station to misguide the cops.
However, police recovered the body from the pond after five days of the incident and sent it for post-mortem.
During investigation, the cops found the two girls to be guilty and arrested them. They have been forwarded to court.
