Two Women Found Hanging From Trees In Balangir & Kalahandi

Balangir/Bhawanipatna: Two women were found hanging from trees in different incidents  in Balangir and Kalahandi districts on Tuesday morning.

In the first incident, an unmarried woman was found hanging from a bael (wood apple) tree in Samaleinagar area near Ichhapada in Balangir district. She belongs to Khuntapali village under Balangir Sadar police limits. A relative of the dead woman told mediapersons  that she was having an affair with Ritu Chouhan, who is already married and has a son and a daughter. “We had told her time and again not to have a relationship with this man,” the relative said. “But she did not pay heed to our advice. She had gone out with the man on Monday.”

Asked if he knew the whereabouts of the man with whom she had gone out, he said he has not been able to contact him as his cellphone is switched off since last evening.

Sadar police rushed to the spot and took the body for post-mortem. “We will begin investigations on the basis of the post-mortem report,” investigating officer (IO) of Sadar Sadar police station, Saroj Nandan Rath, told mediapersons.

In another incident, a woman was found hanging from a tree on the roadside near Mirzapur village under Koksara police station limits of Kalahandi district in the morning. Preliminary investigations reveal some criminals hung the woman after killing her elsewhere.

The identity of the woman had not been established till reports last came in.

Police said the woman seemed to be around 15-20 years of age. Residents said she does not belong to their area.
