Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police have booked two youth in connection with thefts in the city limits as part of a special drive launched to nab property offenders.
The patrolling police arrested two persons accused of various thefts and recovered three LPG gas cylinders and other booty worth over Rs 10,000 from their possession, said a police press release on Sunday.
In the first case, accused Jyoti Krushna Samantaray (33) allegedly lifted three gas cylinders on Friday night (October 1) from an individual and sold it to a person for a paltry sum, said the police sources.
Laxmisagar police have filed a case (Case No.312) in this connection and produced the accused before the appropriate court in the city.
In the second incident, accused Rahul Dhal alias Jaga (22) along with an accomplice picked up air-conditioner repairing material from the office of a complainant residing on Plot No. 400 in BJB Nagar here.
Badagada police have registered a case (No. 343) and recovered AC copper pipes and AC fitting instruments from the possession of the accused on Sunday.
In view of the increasing incidents of property-ralated offences in the city limits, the Commissionerate Police have increased patrolling and vigilance across the Capital, it was learnt.
