Bhubaneswar: Police have arrested two youths for allegedly misbehaving with bar girls of a pub in Bhubaneswar.
According to police sources, the two youths, identified as Rudra Narayan Mallick and Satyabrat Nayak, had gone to the Embassy Bar at Chandrasekharpur in the city on Saturday night. They had drinks in the bar and witnessed the girls dancing there.
Late in night, Rudra and Satyabrat reportedly misbehaved with the dance girls in inebriated condition inside the bar. On being informed, a team from Chandrasekharpur police station went to the bar and arrested the duo.
The police also sealed the bar for violation of excise rules. As per the state government norms, dance performance by girls is strictly prohibited in pubs, bars and hotels. However, there is no restriction on song and music performances in these facilities.
The sources also said the bar was remaining opened beyond permitted time at night. Besides, bar girls were performing dance, violating the government rules.
It may be noted that in January 2023, an argument between some customers and Embassy Bar staff had led to arrest of 34 persons. The pub was even vandalised by some irate customers then.
