Rourkela: Odisha Police arrested and court forwarded two persons for illegal possession of arms in Rourkela city on Monday.
Acting on a tip-off, a special team apprehended two youths near Hanuman temple in Sector 4 locality on Sunday for illegal possession of arms and ammunition. The two have been identified as Vicky Choudhary and Sumit Ranjan Rout.
An improvised crude gun, one live bullet, three mobile phones and a car were seized from them.
Further investigation was on to trace if the youths had more associates and from where they procured the arms. Efforts were also on to trace if an organised syndicate was operating in the Steel City, or its adjoining areas supplying illegal arms in the region.
The possibility of a Maoist link was also under probe, police sources informed.
