Two Youths Drown In Reservoir, One Rescued In Rourkela

Rourkela: Two youths drowned while taking bath in a reservoir and another was rescued in Rourkela of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Saturday.

The three youths of the steel city, who were friends, had gone to take bath in Tarkera dam on Brahmani river under Raghunathpali police limits in the city in the afternoon. All of them were driven into deep water reportedly by a sudden inflow of water into the dam.

Some locals, who witnessed the youths missing in the dam, informed the police and Fire Brigade. A team from Raghunathpali police station along with Fire services personnel from Panposh and Rourkela rushed to the spot. While the Fire personnel immediately launched a search operation, the police started investigation to identify the youths.

The missing youths were identified as Raj Kumar Mahato of Lal Building, Zareeb Khan of Chhend and Bhubesh Prasad.

After a long search, the Fire personnel found the bodies of Raj Kumar and Zareeb. Bhubesh, who was found unconscious from the reservoir, was rushed to the local hospital. He recovered following treatment, hospital sources said.

The police sent the two bodies for post-mortem and registered a case of unnatural death.
