Cuttack: In a suspected hit and run case, two youths, who had gone missing, were found dead from a roadside in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Sunday.
According to sources, the two youths, identified as Dillip Sahu, the son of Krushna Chandra Sahu and Abhijit Singh, son of Akshay Singh of Gopalpur village in the district had gone to Cuttack city on a motorcyle on some work. In the evening, they informed their families over phone that they were returning home.
As Dillip and Abhijit did not reach home till late night, their families informed the villagers and contacted their raltives and known persons to enquire about them. As no news was forthcoming about the two youths, the families went on a search in the area but failed to trace them and filed a missing case at Raghunathpur police station.
On Sunday evening, some locals found the two persons lying dead beside Jagatsinghpur-Tarapur road, around 5 km from Gopalpur village. Thier bike was also lying there.
On being informed, a police team went to the spot and identified the bodies as those of Dillip and Abhijit. They sent the bodies for post-mortem and informed their families.
The police suspected that some vehicle might have hit the youths’ bike from behind and fled. But exact cause of death would be known after getting the post-mortem report, they said.
