Nabarangpur: Two youths were killed while another was injured as their bikes met a head-on collision in Odisha’s Nabarangpur district on Tuesday.
According to sources, the accident took place at Janiguda square on Tentulikhunti-Nabarangpur road in the afternoon. Purna Majhi (23), working in the irrigation project, and Hemant Banua (22) of Chitrakot village were going on a bike towards Anchalgumma and Sandip Kumar Bhatra of Pujariguda village was coming on another motorcycle from opposite direction.
As they collided head-on, two of them fell on the road and another person was thrown off to nearby farm field. While Purna died on the spot reportedly due to head injury, Fire services personnel, who reached the spot on being informed, rushed Hemant and Sandip to the hospital at Tentulikhunti.
But Hemant succumbed during treatment in the hospital. Sandip was initially shifted to a hospital in Nabarangpur and then to Koraput as his condition deteriorated.
A team from Tentulikhunti police station went to the spot and seized both vehicles. They have registered a case and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
