Two Youths Killed In Separate Bike Accidents In Odisha

Bhubaneswar: Two youths were killed in separate bike related accidents in Odisha’s Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts on Saturday.

In one incident, a youth died after he was run over by a truck near Chhapolia under Soro police station in Balasore. The youth, identified as Bijay Kumar Jena of Parikula village under Balasore Sadar police limits, was going on his bike on National Highway 16 to Khaira.

Jena, who worked as a distributor of an electronics company in Balasore, was carrying some goods when the truck hit him from behind and fled.

On being informed, police went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They have registered a case and launched an investigation.

In the other accident, Ratan Behera of Kumbhirda village under Bahalda police station in Mayurbhanj district had a head-on collision with an iron ore laden truck on National Highway 220. The accident took place at ITI Square near Tentala.

A team from Bahalda police station went to the spot and sent an unconscious Ratan to a hospital at Rairangpur. But the doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.

The police have seized both motorcycle and the truck. They have launched a manhunt to trace the truck driver, who has ben absconding after the accident.
