New Delhi: Like appliances, tyres could now be rated based on their rolling resistance and wet grip.
The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) is planning to do so.
Rolling resistance rating will indicate the fuel efficiency of the tyre while the wet grip rating will give an idea of braking on a wet road.
Team-BHP reported that at present, testing wet grip is only possible at ICAT Manesar and rolling resistance facilities are not available in India.
