Mumbai: The Indian U-19 team, the new ICC U-19 champions, were accorded a rousing reception on their arrival in Mumbai after clinching the U-19 World Cup.
A large group of fans and officials of the Mumbai Cricket Association welcomed the team, led by skipper Prithvi Shaw and coached by Rahul Dravid.
India gave a clinical performance in the tournament, remaining unbeaten. This is India’s fourth World Cup win.
In the final, India beat Australia by eight wickets.
Addressing a press conference, Dravid was all praise for the young heroes.
“The real satisfaction was in the process. Planning and developing U-19 players was in place. I am really happy because of these 15 boys we won the World Cup. The way they played and executed in pressure, these kinds of things give you happiness,” said former ace willow-wielder.
