Mumbai: Udit Narayan has landed in fresh controversy after his first wife Ranjana filed a complaint at the Women’s Police Station in Bihar’s Supaul district, alleging that the playback singer got her uterus removed without her consent.
Ranjana, who approached the police station on Tuesday along with her advocate Karunakant Jha, alleged in her complaint that in 1996, Udit along with his brothers Sanjay Kumar Jha and Lalit Narayan Jha took her to a hospital in Delhi under the pretext of medical treatment, where they got her uterus removed without her consent.
Ranjana further alleged that Deepa Narayan, Udit’s second wife, was also present at the hospital at that tim
e.
She claimed that she became aware of the alleged medical procedure only years later during a medical treatment.
Ranjana claimed that in 2006, when she visited Mumbai, she was abused and prevented from entering the singer’s residence.
Later, when she went to her in-laws’ house in Nepal, even there she was insulted and turned away. Since then, she has been living at her parental home.
Speaking to the media, Ranjana said that due to deteriorating health and financial hardship, she was left with no option but to approach the police again.
“You all know that Udit Narayan ji repeatedly makes promises but does not fulfil them. He has not done anything till now, which is why I have come to the Women’s Police Station. I deserve justice,” she said.
Meanwhile, Anju Tiwari, Officer-in-Charge of the Women’s Police Station, confirmed that a complaint has been received from Ranjana.
She stated the incidents mentioned date back nearly three decades and that the matter is currently under investigation.
Udit has not yet issued a public statement regarding the allegations.
