Bhubaneswar: Students of various colleges staged a demonstration at Master Canteen square here on Monday demanding that the Under Graduate (UG) 5th semester exam be conducted in online mode.
Some students also demanded cancellation of the exams even as the universities in the state are prepared to conduct offline exams on the directions of Higher Education Department which took the decision after a decline in COVID-19 positive cases.
A student said they were assured that 5th semester (3rd year) and other ‘odd year’ semesters will be conducted in offline mode but the batch did not get adequate time to prepare for the exam. Moreover, the demand for reducing the syllabus too has not been heard, the student told mediapersons.
The state government, however, is yet to take a decision on this. However, engineering institutions have cleared the online exam option.
On February 10, students from several colleges in Puri, including SCS and Government Women’s College, had also demanded the conduct of the 5th semester examination in online mode.
