UGC Announces Exam Dates; Students Express Displeasure On Social Media

New Delhi: College students and concerned parents took to Twitter on Tuesday morning to express their displeasure over UGC’s decision to conduct the final year or final semester examinations in September. Soon #StudentsLivesMatter, hashtag inspired by #BlackLivesMatter, started trending on Twitter.

The University Grants Commission (UGC) on Monday announced that the universities will be conducting the final year or final semester examinations by the end of September keeping in view the academic prudence and maintaining credibility. The examinations can be held through offline, online or combination of both the modes, UGC clarified.

The number of coronavirus cases is on a rise in the country as India became the third most affected nation on Monday. UGC’s decision puts more students and teachers to health risk. Schools and colleges have been inactive since the lockdown and will not be operative until July 31.
